People & Pets Together pet food shelf location is open! We officially opened our doors on January 19. Since then, we’ve provided pet food, cat litter and pet supplies to more than 60 guests. Some guests visit every month while they try to make ends meet. Others have stopped in just once when money was tight.

Of the pets we serve, a majority are cats and dogs, but others include guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits and a cockatiel.

We’ve met some great neighbors in the Powderhorn and Phillips area who are so supportive and thankful for what we do. It makes all the hard work worth it!

Of course, we couldn’t do this without our dedicated volunteers. We’ve trained in more than 35 volunteers who cover our four shifts per week. If you are interested in volunteering at the pet food shelf, email Amy at foodshelf.ppt@gmail.com

People & Pets Together relies fully on donated food and supplies that we make available to our clients. Thanks to generous donors, the pet food shelf opened with full shelves. As expected, the need is great and we’ve found ourselves in need of certain items to help our guests. We are in constant need of cat litter. Who would have guessed that cat litter would be the toughest item to keep in stock?

Vaccination Clinic
Our first dog vaccination clinic at our location on June 12 was a success! We’ve hosted many dog/cat vaccination clinics offsite, but thought this being our first at the pet food shelf, we’d start with dogs only. This clinic was open to only our pet food shelf guests and it was really fun to see people beaming with joy over their family pets. Thanks to our volunteers and Dr. Adam Bennett, DVM, six families now have their dogs vaccinated.
