The People & Pets Together pet food shelf is located in south Minneapolis, a short distance from where George Floyd died in May at the hands of the police. In the unrest that followed his death, large grocery stores and smaller markets in the area were damaged and have since closed. The loss of these stores has made it difficult for residents to find groceries and other essentials, including pet food. We have seen an increase in demand at our pet food shelf. In addition, we’ve stepped up deliveries of pet food to Twin Cities food shelves. We are collecting donations to allow us to meet the need in the weeks and months ahead.
