(Minneapolis, MN) — Summer 2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of People & Pets Together, a charity founded in 2009 in response to the global financial crisis and heartbreaking stories of people who were forced to give up their pets due to economic hardship. To celebrate the occasion, People & Pets Together will hold an anniversary party for clients, volunteers and friends. The event is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Sunday, July 21 from 2:00-4:00
WHERE: Powderhorn Park Recreation Center, 3400 15th Ave. S, Minneapolis

People & Pets Together helps families facing economic hardship by providing pet food to food shelves in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area, by operating a pet food shelf in Minneapolis, with a veterinary assistance grant program, and through other programs that keep pets healthy and in loving homes. In 2018, People & Pets Together distributed over 100,000 pounds of pet food, and 11 tons of cat litter, to needy families.

“It’s hard to believe it has been 10 years, but when we look back, it’s amazing how much work we have done and how we have grown as an organization,” said President Nancy Ninteman. “Our anniversary event will be an opportunity to celebrate with the clients and supporters we’ve worked with over the years. We look forward to serving the community over the next decade!”

People & Pets Together would like to thank the following local businesses who made donations of food and raffle prizes to help with our anniversary celebration: Dairy Queen (3747 13th Ave S), Earth Rated, Eastlake Craft Brewery, General Mills, Holiday Stationstores (3550 Cedar Ave S), The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar, Seward Community Co-op, Tiny Diner, Trader Joe’s (Minneapolis), and ZEROREZ.
